We are seeking an experienced leader to manage our compounding pharmacy services team consisting of ten clinical staff pharmacists and one technician coordinator (direct reports) and eighteen pharmacy technicians (indirect reports). The Compounding Chief is responsible for oversight of sterile and non-sterile compounding services for pediatric and adult patients.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee day to day operations of sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, and oral solid and liquid repackaging
Serve as a content expert on USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 and ensure ongoing compliance with each
Maintain clinical and operational skillset and knowledge base to support provision of high level pharmaceutical care
Mentor team and create vision for provision of comprehensive, quality pharmaceutical care
Lead team in identifying and implementing cost containment and cost savings initiatives
Lead team in developing and maintaining competencies for pharmacists and technicians related to sterile and non-sterile compounding
Collaborate with other leaders in the department to promote progressive pharmaceutical care
Manage change to support continual advancement of practice, enhancement of safety, and focus on quality
Identify and implement technologies to support quality and safety
Provide performance evaluations on an annual basis for all direct reports
Lead interdisciplinary collaboration on issues related to compounded drug therapies
Lead departmental quality improvement projects
Manage supply chain issues for areas, including new products and supplies, recalls, and shortages
Operationalize compounded product formulary additions or changes
Participate in research activities ongoing in the department
Serve as resident and student mentor and preceptor
