The Pharmacy Department provides oversight of medication selection and utilization for patients of Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children. We work closely with the medical and nursing staffs to make sure all medications are prescribed appropriately, are administered safely and work effectively.
The Director has responsibility for the management and operations of our inpatient pharmacy services. This consists of a 24/7 central pharmacy operation, and three clean room environments including our central pharmacy Sterile Products Area and both our Boston and Stoneham Infusion center satellites.
This is one of four Director level positions within the department that report to the Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer. Each Director is provided the opportunity to manage at least one of the medical center’s clinical service lines in an effort to create a well-rounded and balanced management team.
Our Inpatient Operations team includes a staff of approximately 70 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians along with two Pharmacy Managers who report to the Director. The Director of Inpatient Operations is responsible for ensuring our inpatient operations remain contemporary, perform at appropriate service levels, and comply with legal and regulatory standards.
As an active member of the broader management team within the Department of Pharmacy, the Director of Inpatient Operations participates in departmental planning sessions, facilitates completion of departmental goals and objectives, and supports the collective efforts of our well-rounded team of Directors and Pharmacy Managers.
Five years of pharmacy practice management experience is required License to practice pharmacy in Massachusetts is required In addition to these requirements, the following experience is preferred
Master’s degree and / or residency training is preferred Proven experience in leading quality and service improvement activities and achieving outcomes that respond to customer expectations Experience in effectively leading the design and organization of work and allocation of resources to achieve appropriate staffing levels, staffing mix and productivity levels
