This position is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Role and Responsibilities
Critically and clinically review member claims as appropriate
Review prior authorizations for approval/denial based on standard criteria
Review new drugs, develop criteria, and submit any necessary change request/tickets when appropriate
Support the Customer service department in representing the clinical department when needed
Participate in an on-call rotation for afterhours assignments when needed
Work/Assist with employer groups, account management, and/or sales in member meetings as assigned to improve the understanding of the Pharmacy benefit
Offer support for clients and internal departments, including reporting and other tasks as assigned
Evaluate therapeutic drug interventions and other clinical programs with the goal of controlling Pharmacy spend and monitoring outcomes
Thorough understanding of all SS Pharmacy product offerings, including formularies, reporting, and clinical interventions and strategy
Pipeline evaluation, drug formulary, and offer improvements/suggestions to both
Monitor Pharmacy claims and identify clinical appropriateness
Submit tickets to systems when needed
Maintain a professional presence at all times
Provide clinical reporting when needed
Maintain collaborative relationships with all internal departments
Communicate Pharmacy information as appropriate to members, employer groups, and providers
Develop communication materials to both internal and external parties when necessary in regards to formulary changes, health literacy, medication adherence, and Pharmacy trend
Mentor students and/or help to precept in the SS residency program
Complete projects/assignments as assigned by the Pharmacy Director

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, salaried position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional after-hours or weekend duties.
This position requires <10% travel from Natchitoches, Louisiana. If any, it will usually be to/from our other clinical site located in Charleston, South Carolina.
Required Education and Experience
Education and formal training with Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD) from an accredited College of Pharmacy, clinical pharmacy residency or equivalent experience and licensure
Minimum 1 year as a clinical pharmacist with involvement in formulary development, drug use evaluation, and quality assurance activities.
Completion of a pharmacy practice or specialty residency
Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Extensive knowledge of pharmacy and its related subdisciplines, formulary development, drug use review, quality assurance, legal, regulatory, and standards of practice
Ability to research and analyze the medical literature including drug information, disease states, and clinical practice guidelines
Preferred Education and Experience:
Good written and verbal communication; the ability to integrate healthcare team
Proficiency in using database information systems and Microsoft Office Suite
