The Internal Medicine Clinical Specialist is an educator, sharing their knowledge and expertise with pharmacy and medical residents and students; pharmacy staff; other healthcare professionals; and patients and their care givers. Responsibilities of this role include precepting residents and students, mentoring and developing staff pharmacists and improving medication management and therapeutic outcomes for patients through the implementation and support of pharmacy initiatives. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in collaborative situations is crucial for the successful candidate. These skills will be employed during patient care rounds, multidisciplinary team meetings, and while working with other pharmacy leaders to coordinate and advance pharmacy services, all while maintaining the patient as the central focus of their work. The Clinical Specialist assists in the planning, organization and direction of pharmacy services to achieve a high quality standard of care throughout the continuum and supports the development of training and education programs, with accompanying evaluation processes, for clinical activities of the pharmacist staff.
PharmD or BS in Pharmacy with equivalent experience
Valid Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy licensure or eligible for licensure in PA
PGY1 Residency training with experience in Internal Medicine or equivalent experience (required); PGY2 residency preferred
