Clinical Assistant Professor, General Medicine (4530)

Primary Purpose This clinical assistant professor position is based at the Anchorage Alaska delivery site for the College of Pharmacy and will be responsible for establishing clinical APPE general medicine rotation at Mat Su Regional Medical Center in Wasilla, Alaska. This faculty member is also responsible for didactic teaching commensurate with a 12-month non-tenure track appointment, including PharmD module course coordination and teaching, Case Studies, P4 seminar, and interprofessional course offerings. Service to the College and University is also expected as is an active scholarship program, based on educational and/or clinical activities.
• Patient care and professional responsibilities: (25%)
Develop and deliver innovative collaborative practice pharmaceutical care services at Mat Su Regional Medical Center (MSRMC). Patient care activities may include: develop collaborative care practices with hospitalist service as directed by MSRMC Director of Pharmacy. Other clinical activities: antimicrobial stewardship, medication use evaluations, staff development, participate in MSRMC P&T committee. Provide preceptor development for other MSRMC-health care professionals and serve as liaison between the university and the hospital. Develop an MSRMC-based PGY1 pharmacy residency program (3 -5yr Goal). Clinical staff pharmacist duties as needed to maintain high quality clinical services.
• Coordination and supervision of Introductory and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE/APPE) students: (35%)
Maintain general medicine pharmacy practice site for APPE education at MSRMC. Work with the hospital physicians, clinical pharmacists, and others to provide consultative pharmacotherapy services for pharmacy students completing a general medicine Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE). Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and other APPE students assigned to the Medical Center. Develop APPE Elective Rotations (Infectious Disease, Critical Care, Behavioral Health etc.).
• Provide didactic teaching to PharmD and related health profession discipline: (20%)
Provide teaching in the didactic curriculum, including case studies facilitation. • Scholarship (10%)
Develop and maintain an active scholarship program, commensurate with a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position. Serve as a role modelpractitioner/educator in the didactic and experiential components of the PharmD program.
• Service (10%)
Serve on assigned University, College, and Departmental committees commensurate with a non-tenure track, clinical faculty position.
• Pharm.D. degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy. (prescreen) • Ability to be licensed as a registered pharmacist in Alaska (prescreen) • Minimum of one year of residency or specialty residency or equivalent experience • Evidence of effective teaching • Evidence clinical scholarship
Preferred Qualifications • PGY1 in pharmacy practice discipline with preference given to candidates with general medicine or critical care experience • Work experience in general medicine and critical care – (note private sector experience favored) • PGY2 – Internal Medicine favored • Board Certification • Experience teaching in a College of Pharmacy • Experiential teaching experience • Infectious disease background • Experience with distance learning • Advanced Scholarship

Salary range has been approved from $125,000 to $135,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Includes a competitive benefits package.
