The director is responsible for the leadership of specialty pharmacy to include mail order and cold chain shipping. Assumes responsibility for program goals, quality metrics, accreditation, budget and overall growth of specialty pharmacy.
Participates in the development of departmental strategic goals and objectives.
Manages drug expense to budget by monitoring drug expense, revenue and billing practices.
Prepares annual operating budget.
Ensures quality measures are maintained according to accreditation standards.
Analyzes and evaluates ongoing programs to identify areas in need of adjustments or improvements; make recommendations to senior director.
Develops staffing plans to ensure developmental objectives are being met; develops schedules and priorities to meet emergencies and changing conditions.
Maintains an effective quality assurance program in compliance with Federal, and State laws and accreditation standards.
Evaluates workload, priorities and activity schedules to determine staffing requirements.
Ensures all D-H policies and procedures are followed.
Communicates within and across departments to maximize effectiveness, efficiency and information sharing.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
BS or PharmD with 10 years of progressively more responsible pharmacy practice management experience required.
Experience in a PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) setting or a large tertiary care medical center, preferably as part of an integrated healthcare system preferred.
Strong leadership, communication and financial skills.
Active participation and experience in professional organizations, educational endeavors and/or research initiatives is highly desirable.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and possess the ability to set priorities and make critical decisions.
Effective oral and written communication skills as well as demonstrated interpersonal and team skills essential.
Participate in professional associations and developmental activities to keep informed of new developments in the specialty field.
Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
Unrestricted pharmacy licensure in the state of New Hampshire.
BCPS current certification.
