HEALTH SYSTEM DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY SPARROW HOSPITAL LANSING, MI
As a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) Health System Director of Pharmacy at Sparrow Hospital, you will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Sparrow Hospital and the other Sparrow Health System affiliate hospital pharmacies. You will proactively recommend innovations in the practice and function of the hospital pharmacy department, establish productivity and patient satisfaction goals and objectives, apply CPS tools and processes to successfully manage drug cost budget in conjunction with clinical protocols and ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, DEA and the state board of pharmacy.
Facility: Sparrow Hospital, an affiliate acute care hospital of Sparrow Health System, is licensed for 676 beds. At Sparrow, patients have access to the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the area. The Sparrow Hospital Emergency Department is one of the state's largest and most advanced. The Granger Pediatric Emergency Department is the region's first full-service, 24/7 emergency room designed and equipped specifically for children. Sparrow Hospital also features neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, a certified primary stroke center, the Sparrow Heart and Vascular Center, and the Sparrow Cancer Center. Sparrow Hospital is a major teaching facility that is affiliated with Michigan State University's three human health colleges. Management of the 24/7 pharmacy is outsourced to CPS.
Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
Current MI Pharmacist license in good standing
5+ years pharmacy director experience in a complex health care system
Experience with USP 797 and USP 800
Experience with 340B
Experience with EPIC
Experience with Pharmacy Automation (Pyxis, CII Safe...)
Ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns
Ability to work cooperatively with other members of CPS and hospital and pharmacy staff
Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems
Effective communications skills; verbal and written
Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services
Proficient in the use and application of new medications and technology
Leadership, administrative, human resource, and managerial skills
Demonstrated ability to effectively participate on interdisciplinary teams and committees
Business acumen including profit/loss understanding, contract negotiations, and GPO function
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics
Problem solving ability and analytical thinking
