Responsible for overall operation of the Pharmacy Department. Ensures compliance with all laws and accreditation standards as well as policies, procedures and standards of the facility. Position requires extensive contact with administration, medical, nursing and hospital staff and non-hospital personnel.
Assists in the development of the department’s annual budget and monitors expenditures and revenues for all departmental accounts.
Analyzes and explains budget variances to superiors.
Actively seeks cost-reduction strategies including formulary modifications, inventory monitoring, etc.
Ensures compliance with laws and accreditation standards that pertain to pharmacy. Reviews policies and procedures of the department to ensure accuracy and compliance
Participates in all committees/ functions required by the facility.
Pharmacist in charge/drug control
Management responsibilities including, but not limited to: Schedules and payroll, Orientation and training, Evaluations and counseling, Hiring and terminations, Holds regular department meetings to assure communication to staff

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy degree
Must be registered by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy
Experience in hospital pharmacy with lead or supervisory experience preferred.
Skills to provide care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients
Analytical and problem solving ability necessary to participate in the development of departmental and overall policies and procedures, resolve complex personnel and patient care problems, schedule subordinates, help in development of budgets for areas of responsibilities and evaluate the quality of patient care.
Interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of hospital personnel, representative of external agencies and patients.
Supervisory skills necessary to plan, organize and control the activities of the department in a cost-effective fashion.
Ability to counsel employees concerning work related problems.
Ability to maneuver through the Meditech, Omnicell, and Pharmacy OneSource systems acquired through on-the-job training.
