Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our Oncology team!
This position will primarily be responsible for verifying, filling and dispensing chemotherapy medication orders including the proper handling, usage, monitoring and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. This position will focus on providing patient care in the adult outpatient, adult inpatient, and pediatric oncology populations with some work in infusion patients (rheumatology, neurology, etc.). This pharmacist will maintain standards set by the department and translate policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy. They will act as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature. They will serve as a preceptor to students, new hires and residents, in addition to other duties as assigned. Core functions will include: assisting in coordinating of oncology investigational drug services, provide education to pharmacy team members to enhance competency, optimize drug therapy by participating in the development of treatment plans, development and implementation of USP 800 regulations, and collaboration with expert providers to provide patients with the highest level of care.
-State of Maine Pharmacist License -B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D. required
-PGY1Health-System Pharmacy Practice residency required (commensurate experiencewill be considered)
-PGY2 residencyor 3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred -Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification – required within 18 months of employment
Other skills required Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Maine. Board Certification in Oncology is expected within 12 months of hire/eligibility (if not already certified). Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision. Ability to work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergent requests. Ability to exercise sound professional judgment. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and writing). Must exhibit a caring attitude toward patients, co-workers, and other customers.
