Baptist Medical Center South has begun a national search for a Director of Pharmacy for their 454-bed, not-for-profit, faith-based tertiary referral center. Located in Montgomery, Alabama, Baptist Medical Center South is the flagship medical center for Baptist Health. Baptist Health is the region's leading provider of care to several hospitals, physician practices, cancer centers, and ambulatory facilities.
The Director of Pharmacy will be directly responsible for all pharmacy services at Baptist Medical Center South. They are automated utilizing a drug carousel, bedside bar coding and have computerized physician order entry. They have progressive clinical programs and include academic support working with University of Alabama Birmingham faculty physicians.
Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy with a Pharmacy degree; PharmD or related advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered pharmacist by the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy
Must have at least seven years of pharmacy leadership experience in a complex hospital setting.
Must have some experience in a large complex pharmacy environment, preferably a setting with a high case mix index; knows the workings of a hospital pharmacy operation inside and out. Possesses an exceptional understanding of pharmacy department processes.
Experience implementing and/or using technology to improve patient/medication safety, and enhance efficiency/productivity would be a plus.
Candidates who have successfully engaged physicians, nurses, and other practitioners with clinical initiatives involving the pharmacy and hospital would be ideal.
