The Sr. Clinical Pharmacist – Pharmacy Procurement, Formulary Services & Value Analysis will Optimize the operation of the pharmacy supply chain relating to drug procurement, drug shortage management, contracting, 340B, inventory control, security of medications, financial reporting/tracking.The Supply Chain Pharmacist will ensure regulatory compliance to the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), The Joint Commission, as well as all other state/federal laws. Other activities include:
Oversight and supervision of pharmaceutical purchasing staff and coordination of purchasing activities for the RUHS Pharmacy enterprise.
Oversight of coordinated teams in value analysis, purchasing, managed care, formulary, etc.
Optimization of contract compliance through evaluation and audit of wholesaler pricing systems
Ensure systematic and timely audit of GPO contract changes to ensure accurate and timely pricing updates
Leverage contracting relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers to achieve improved cost of goods
Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely and efficient coordination with appropriate committees and facilitate prescribing and distribution processes.
Serve as an expert advisor on supply chain forecasting related to:
Pharmacy spend and trend budgeting
Vendor market intelligence
New pharmaceutical launches
GPO pricing intelligence and trend reporting
Participate in implementation and maintenance of medication utilization strategies.
Identify opportunities for medication waste reduction/prevention.
Prepare and interpret financial reports relating to the pharmacy supply chain in order to justify benefit to the pharmacy department.
Create and oversee strategies for cost-savings and revenue generation.
Implement and integrate automation and technology to assure safe and appropriate use of medications.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts related to pharmaceutical cost, distribution, technology, and automation.
Provide oversight of drug shortage systems and recall management systems.
Establish and monitor inventory tracking systems for all products to ensure product availability and supply integrity
• Participate as a member of pharmacy department and hospital multidisciplinary teams and committees.
MHA or MBA preferred
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 and/or PGY-2 residency, or equivalent practice experience
Minimum 1-year experience in a supervisor role.
Prior experience with pharmacy inventory management systems
Pharmacy distributing management experience
Clinical operations, value analysis and buying experience along with experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
