• Assist in selection of individualized HIV treatment regimens • Assist in selection of medication regimens for key patient populations such as co-infected patients with hepatitis and opportunistic infections, pregnant women, and those with solid organ transplantation • Assist in management of primary care for persons living with HIV • Provide patient counseling on therapeutic options at diagnosis/intake • Provide patient counseling on administration of medications with initiation of medications • Provide patient adherence counseling and adherence barrier management • Conduct ongoing adherence assessments • Monitor responses to therapy and adverse effects • Evaluate regimens for drug-drug and drug-food interactions • Identify opportunities for regimen simplification • Recommend immunizations for persons living with HIV • Provide transitions of care services for persons living with HIV admitted to and/or discharged from the hospital • Develop protocols for providing care to patients needing pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) • Educate physicians, physician assistant, and other staff on HIV medication and guideline updates • Develop research protocols and quality improvement projects to enhance current patient care • Publish findings of completed research projects when appropriate
Education, Certification/Experience Requirements:
BS in Pharmacy/Pharm.D.
1 year as hospital pharmacist preferred
Current license (or eligible) to practice pharmacy in South Carolina. Will work under direct supervision of
licensed pharmacist until license obtained.
