At M.D. Anderson you will have the opportunity to join a clinical pharmacy staff of over 100 clinical pharmacy specialists dedicated to providing direct patient care to cancer patients. Through participation on multidisciplinary teams the Clinical Pharmacy Specialists collaborate to provide comprehensive drug therapy management. Numerous opportunities for teaching, research, and professional development exist and are expected after establishment of patient care services.
Clinical pharmacy specialist responsibilities include providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy services including both acute and ambulatory care populations. Degree of acute vs. ambulatory care components depends on the specific disease site assigned. Clinical essential duties include, but are not limited to, rounding with the multidisciplinary team, supportive care management, oncology treatment plan development, chemotherapy order preparation, nutrition support, fluid and electrolyte management, patient education, medication reconciliation and working with the multidisciplinary team to insure continuity of care between the inpatient and outpatient environment. Other significant component of the position is to provide preceptorship to pharmacy residents and students.
Pharm.D. Degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
Eligible for licensure in the state of Texas
Pharmacy Practice (PGY1) Residency and Oncology (PGY2) Speciality Residency (or equivalent experience)
