Background: Scripps Mercy Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma and Academic Teaching Hospital with 700 acute care beds. Its is a Primary Stroke Center and STEMI receiving Center. Annually we train over 80 Medical Residents and Family Practice Residents, 4 PGY1 Pharmacy Residents and 2 PGY2 Pharmacy Residents and provide 10 types APPE rotations to 30 students through affiliations with 6 schools of Pharmacy. The PGY1 program has been fully accredited for 18 years, and the PGY2 programs have been accredited since 2016. Unique to our program pharmacy residents are considered housestaff with privileges to Medical Staff lounges, free food 24/7 and physician parking. The Pharmacy Department is open 24/7 and pharmacist practice in decentralized settings in 11 practice areas along with our Oncology Infusion center. The Clinical Pharmacist Attendings have a broad breadth of authorities to manage pharmacist driven medication protocols. The Department is active in research and publication with 5-7 international and national presentations annually. PGY2 Psychiatry: One of the oldest psychiatric services in San Diego with 15 attending psychiatrists. We have a critical care psychiatry unit and both acute care adult and geropsychiatric inpatient programs. Interdisciplinary rounds occur daily with psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and pharmacist attending. Pharmacist attending and residents lead in weekly patient groups. Clinic involvement occurs in neurology and psychiatry. The psychiatric liaison team provides services 24/7. See website above for rotation details. PGY2 Critical Care: We are one of the busiest Emergency Departments in San Diego seeing more than 50,000 patients annually. The ICU has 32 medical and surgical beds and the ICU service consists of 9 pulmonary critical care intensivists with two rounding teams consisting of medicine residents and pharmacist attending. The Trauma service has 6 surgeons and 5 nurse practitioners, two pharmacist attendings along with medical residents and surgical residents.
