Parkview Regional Medical Center (PRMC) is accepting applications for a clinical pharmacy specialist in emergency medicine.
Position Details: The clinical specialist will provide direct patient care in the emergency department. The ED has 60 beds including 4 Trauma rooms and an 8 bed Clinical Decision Unit and has over 54,000 visits annually. Pharmacy has been providing clinical services to the Emergency Department full time on evening shift. We are expanding to cover day shift and need a replacement specialist for evenings. Technicians work with the pharmacists focused on completing medication histories and participate in developing the best possible medication lists. This allows the pharmacist to focus on clinical services while overseeing optimal patient admissions and transitions of care. This position affords the opportunity to develop close relationships with physicians, nurses, and other care providers.
Parkview Health has provided specialty pharmacy services in a variety of areas for over 20 years. This pharmacist will participate in pharmacy-based projects and multidisciplinary committees, and will precept student pharmacists and PGY1 residents.

PRMC, a member of Parkview Health, is a major regional medical center located in Fort Wayne, Indiana (a community of approximately 300,000 people). It provides comprehensive medical services to patients in northeastern Indiana, northwestern Ohio and southern Michigan. PRMC is a tertiary medical center with 446 beds (all private) and is a Level II Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center. The ED is a Certified, Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Certified Chest Pain Center. Parkview Health also operates EMS programs out of each of our facilities as well as a flight program, operating two aircraft. We fly approximately 1100 patients each year. We have 27 ground ambulances, 1 critical care transport unit, and a transport ambulance for inter-facility transfers. In addition to the medical and surgical populations, it also has specialty centers for cardiac, orthopedics, oncology, and women’s and children’s services.

Candidates must possess a pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited institution and have completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency. A PGY2 residency in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine (or equivalent experience) is highly preferred. Pharmacy licensure or eligibility in Indiana is required. Candidates must have a high level of clinical practice skills, enthusiasm for teaching, and the interpersonal skills needed to interact effectively with students, health professionals, and patients.
