A one-year ASHP accredited PGY2 residency, training the pharmacy informatics specialist in the areas of clinical informatics, technology and automation.
The resident will be exposed to the following areas: technology essentials, medication safety, data warehousing and mining, data visualization, project management, vendor relations, clinical information systems (EHR/CPOE), clinical decision support, integration of systems, and innovation in technology. The resident will go through a proficiency course for use and configuration of the Epic EHR inpatient pharmacy application. Projects will be assigned to develop research skills and administrative leadership. Teaching opportunities included lecturing and precepting for pharmacy residents and students, and development and presentation of pharmacy continuing education programs.
