University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Presbyterian/Shadyside and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy offer four PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency positions. Through each of these positions, the resident will develop skills to design and deliver direct patient care and pharmacy services in outpatient settings as part of a collaborative practice environment; develop teaching and assessment skills; and develop research skills through the design, implementation, assessment, and publication of a practice-based research project. Direct patient care delivery focuses on chronic care management, transitions of care, and individualizing care needs. All trainees develop into health care professionals who are empathetic, creative, and culturally sensitive in solving problems for all patients. The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency Traditional Track has two positions and provides a wide variety of opportunities to practice within community and hospital-based primary care and specialty practices. The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Global Health Track has one position and provides opportunities to work with underserved and vulnerable populations in resource-constrained settings both locally and globally. The Family Medicine Track has one position and provides opportunity to develop skills to teach post-graduate physician learners in interprofessional primary care environments.
