This managed care residency is through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Health Plan's Pharmacy Services Department in affiliation with the University of Pittsburgh. The pharmacy department supports the pharmacy benefits for Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, and Health Insurance Exchanges. The resident will develop clinical intervention activities for medication therapy management programs, conduct member outreach programs, participate in Health Plan Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee activities, and assist in formulary management and policy development. Other rotations include pharmacy benefit manager, specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care clinic, account management, consulting and industry. Through the affiliation with the University of Pittsburgh, residents will present seminars, complete a research project, and participate in student instruction.
