Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital is part of Saint Francis Health System, the largest Health-System in Oklahoma. Laureate is a private, not-for-profit, freestanding, 106 bed, psychiatric facility. The psychiatric pharmacy resident has the opportunity to provide care for patients with mental health disorders in the following areas: adult inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, adult consult liaison, pediatric consult liaison, eating disorders, neurology, and pain management. Longitudinal experiences including research and outpatient mental health are required components of the residency. The resident will also have ample opportunities to teach and precept pharmacy students.
The purpose of this program is to develop competent, confident practitioners with expert knowledge, skills, attitudes, and abilities in psychiatric pharmacotherapy and pharmacy practice. The program provides experiences in all aspects of psychiatric pharmacy practice. The resident will develop advanced skills in pharmacokinetics, drug selection and dosing, and formulary management. The program features opportunities for interprofessional collaboration and for the resident to serve as a subject matter expert in psychiatric pharmacy. Education opportunities include didactic lectures at a local university and teaching patients, students, and other health care providers. Major research projects provide exposure to developing study methods, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting findings.
Interested candidates should submit a letter of intent, college transcripts, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation. Candidates must have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, must be participating in or have completed an ASHP-accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program or one in the ASHP accreditation process, and must be eligible for licensure in Oklahoma.
