The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy invites applications for a Regional Internship Program (RIP) Director for the San Antonio region. The successful applicant will be appointed as a non-tenure track clinical faculty member in the Pharmacotherapy Division in San Antonio at a rank consistent with their qualifications and experience. Division faculty are also appointed to the UT Health San Antonio School of Medicine.
The successful applicant will be responsible for coordination and oversight of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) for fourth-year pharmacy students in the San Antonio region, and will serve as regional director for experiential rotations. In addition, the successful applicant will provide supervision of regional coordinators for inpatient, ambulatory, community and elective rotations; supervise the rotation assignment and revision process for all types of rotations; recruit, develop and train preceptors, maintain preceptor records, communicate with preceptors regarding student performance on rotation experiences; and conduct rotation site visits. Additional position expectations will be discussed during the interview.
The applicant will serve as local coordinator for the two Foundations in Professional Development courses for third-year student pharmacists in the San Antonio region. Additional teaching and service that supports the mission of The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is expected. The successful individual will have the opportunity to collaborate with tenure track and non-tenure-track faculty on research and scholarship.
In addition, the applicant will satisfy contract requirements with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission Vendor Drug Program and serve as a drug information consultant for the Texas Medicaid Vendor Drug Program Drug Utilization Review Board. Responsibilities include creating and updating retrospective medication criteria for select drugs/drug classes, attending quarterly Texas Medicaid Vendor Drug Program Drug Utilization Review Board meetings, as well as providing responses to drug information inquiries as needed.
Candidates must have an earned Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy, be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas, have successfully completed a specialty practice residency or equivalent experience, and be able to demonstrate effective teaching.
