The PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration/M.S. program is a twenty-four month program. Successful candidates will also obtain a Master’s Degree from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy’s Social and Administrative Pharmacy graduate program through both experiential and didactic experiences. There are two residency positions. One resident will be based at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and one at Fairview Pharmacy Services. The position at Fairview Pharmacy Services has an emphasis on ambulatory and transitional care administration and the position at the University of Minnesota Medical Center has an emphasis on acute care.

This residency is unique in that it provides the candidates opportunities for specialized clinical experiences as well as leadership experience in all aspects of the pharmacy enterprise, including acute care hospital, home care, retail pharmacy services, pharmacy benefits management, specialty pharmacy, clinical practice management, 340B management, and informatics.
Management experiences include human resources, financial management, contract management, purchasing and inventory management, technology, and pharmacy operations and leadership. Each resident’s individual interests and skill development needs are assessed and considered during the program. Two major projects are required for the fulfillment of the Master’s Degree. Projects will be targeted toward implementation of a new technology or service.
