This is a one year, specialized residency designed to provide an experience leading to the development of expert knowledge, skills, and clinical leadership in the practice of internal medicine pharmacy. Building upon the skills gained from a PGY1 program, the resident will be afforded opportunities to develop and refine multiple skills sets including—but not limited to—practice foundation, direct patient care, drug information, and policy development. This is accomplished through rounding with patient care teams, ambulatory experience, providing education to various members of the healthcare team in formal and informal settings, precepting pharmacy students and PGY1 residents, and conducting research in conjunction with pharmacy preceptors and/or other healthcare providers. Each learning experience and activity contributes to the resident’s development into a self-sufficient practitioner for patients with a multitude of general disease states. Graduates of the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital PGY2 Internal Medicine Residency should be prepared to pursue employment as a clinical specialist in Internal Medicine. They should also possess the competencies that enable attainment of board certification.
PGY1 residency and eligibility for NYS licensure required.
