The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics PGY1/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency is designed to provide concentrated training in clinical practice and administration of health-system pharmacy. The resident will obtain advanced knowledge in clinical practice and expertise in pharmacy administration, operations, personnel management, and leadership activities. The PGY1 year provides focused clinical pharmacy training in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, providing experience in all aspects of patient-centered care. The PGY2 year provides advanced training in health-system pharmacy administration, building off the clinical and leadership skills developed during the first year. A variety of teaching opportunities exist including preceptorship of pharmacy students, adjunct faculty position at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, and participation in a teaching certificate program. Completion of a formal clinical research project and a medication use evaluation is required.
Residents may complete a Masters Degree from the following degree offerings:
Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Iowa College of Public Health
Executive Master of Health Administration (MHA) from the University of Iowa College of Public Health
Master of Science in Healthcare Informatics (MSHI)

Graduation from an ACPE Accredited School of Pharmacy.
Current or eligible for Iowa Pharmacist licensure.
