This two year Global Oncology R&D (Clinical Development) Pharmaceutical Industry Fellowship is jointly sponsored by St. John's University, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Queens, NY) and Daiichi Sankyo (Basking Ridge, New Jersey). The program will allow the fellow to develop an understanding of the drug development process in the area of oncology. He/she will be able to learn strategies and processes for clinical trial start-up, execution, and completion. The fellow will also be able to learn strategies for effective oversight and management of contract research organizations and other vendors to ensure trials are conducted in accordance with the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Within the second year, the fellow may also rotate to different functional areas of his/her interest such as quantitative clinical pharmacology, clinical safety and pharmacovigilance, or regulatory affairs.
The St. John’s University component of the fellowship will provide the fellow with the opportunity to teach didactic courses in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, complete a teaching certificate program, and complete an original prospective research project.
