The FAMU/BMS Pharmaceutical Industry Residency/Fellowship is a two-year postdoctoral program that provides residents with the opportunity to gain unique experience in both the clinical setting of a large healthcare system and the pharmaceutical industry at leading global biopharma company, Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Year 1: Resident experience will be based in south Florida where residents will complete 6 months of general residency rotations such as internal medicine, ambulatory care, and infectious disease, followed by 6 months of hematology/oncology rotations including inpatient and outpatient settings within adult and pediatric departments. Residents will develop a sound clinical foundation centered around patient care. Residents will also gain longitudinal experience in research and academia. Licensure is required within first 90 days.
Year 2: Fellowship experience requires transition to New Jersey at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company where residents will complete 1 year within Medical Affairs in the Immuno-Oncology therapeutic area. This experience may include development of tumor and/or asset-specific medical strategy and communications such as with publications and scientific content. Residents will gain organizational savvy as well as the personal and professional development needed to thrive in highly matrixed, cross-functional teams. Residents will lead critical initiatives and collaborate with resident/fellow peers, BMS colleagues and internal stakeholders, as well as thought leaders and other healthcare professionals.
