As an integral member of the Pharmacy team, the Clinical Pharmacist performs responsibilities which enhance the reputation and service-orientation of the Department. Duties and responsibilities include: coordinating, collaborating and providing expertise in oncology pharmaceutical care; performing education responsibilities; providing accurate and efficient dispensing of medication; performing administrative responsibilities; supervises and provides direction to technical/support staff; maintaining overall responsibility for pharmacy operations in assigned area; performing communication responsibilities; performing cross-functional duties including clinical patient care and pharmacy operations areas ; and all responsibilities consistent with the job classification, as required. The practice site of this position is LCI Morehead.
Coordinates, oversees, and participates in direct patient care activities to include clinical services, consisting of, but not limited to: developing, recommending, monitoring, and evaluating patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens and pharmacist driven protocols.
Ensures continuity of care to and from the acute and ambulatory care environments.
Retrieves clinical information for monitoring and review of the medication use process.
Directs the PI/QI actives and MUE program, as well as, prepare and present at the Pharmacy and Therapeutic committee. In addition, serves as a representative on applicable clinical committees.
Provides concise, applicable, timely literature based responses to requests for drug information from healthcare providers and patients.
Designs and delivers in-service education for patients, physicians, nurses, technicians, and other healthcare professional regarding drug therapy inquiries.
Ensures accurate participation of the pharmacy department in all clinical trials which involve study medication(s) as applicable.
Precepts in the orientation and training of new employees, residents and pharmacy students, as required.
Adheres to all Atrium Health and Pharmacy departmental policies and procedures in accordance to activities with accreditation, legal, regularity, and safety requirements specific to the pharmacy.
Weekend patient rounds coverage and on-call participation may be required.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) from an accredited college of pharmacy required. Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY2 Oncology Residency or Board Certification in Oncology Pharmacy or a minimum of two years experience in a clinical oncology setting is required. Current North Carolina Pharmacy License or eligible for reciprocity required.
