Clinical Staff Pharmacists at UPMC Pinnacle practice in both centralized and decentralized/unit-based settings. In all care venues, pharmacy practice is supported by state-of-the-art technologies.
Candidates will work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and fellow pharmacy staff to provide care to patients across a wide range of ages, disease states, and acuities.
Daily activities include but are not limited to:
Drug therapy monitoring
Clinical verification of electronic medication orders
Implementation of pharmacy protocols and standing orders for renal dosing, IV to PO conversion, and vancomycin/aminoglycoside dosing
Direct education and communication with patients about medication regimens and side-effects
Medication dosage form dispensing – including sterile IV admixture and chemotherapy preparation.
Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in Pennsylvania
Experience in a progressive acute care hospital setting
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 residency
BPS Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy
