Purpose: This two year fellowship in Health Outcomes and Analytics prepares pharmacists to practice proficiently and lead in the areas of health information management, health-system administration, analytics, and health outcomes research.
Program Highlights: This unique fellowship partners with a health system to enable the fellow to obtain experience in corporate pharmacy administration and management. The fellow will gain industry-related experience in health information technology, clinical decision support, medical content development, marketing, sales, and client support at the Clinical Surveillance and Compliance unit of Wolters Kluwer, Health. The fellow will be based in the Nashville, Tennessee area.
The majority of the fellow’s time will be spent on research and performance improvement endeavors. The fellow works with corporate pharmacy leaders and other key stakeholders to strategically implement programs that impact patient care being delivered at the bedside. The fellow will be required to design and conduct research project, under the guidance of experienced mentors. Project requirement includes project design, data collection, presentation of findings at national or regional meetings, and manuscript submission. In addition, the fellow may gain teaching and precepting experience as a preceptor of APPE students.
Key Program Objectives:
Design and conduct research projects related to health outcomes, population health, and health information technology
Interpret and apply statistical analysis of data to guide clinical practice
Design, implement, and measure performance improvement activities to achieve clinical, operational, and financial objectives
Research, prepare, and deliver presentations to disseminate information to various audiences
Utilize analytics platform to monitor effectiveness of clinical initiatives
Apply business and clinical intelligence data from analytics to inform and support strategic decision making
Explain healthcare regulations, standards, and goals associated with patient safety, quality, and pharmacy operations
Assess the health system’s utilization of clinical decision support application and identify opportunities to improve and expand
Evaluate literature and author/update clinical content
Describe Agile methodology and Scrum process in software development
Lead product demonstration and conduct clinical return on investments
Demonstrate personal leadership qualities essential to lead and advance the profession of pharmacy
Participation in PPS at ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting is highly recommended.

Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy
Eligibility to work in the United States
Eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Tennessee prior to start of fellowship
Completion of PGY-1 and/or PGY-2 residencies preferred
