The Philadelphia College of Pharmacy (PCP) at University of the Sciences (USciences), in conjunction with Janssen Scientific Affairs, offers a two-year Medical Information fellowship focused on Payers and Health systems. The fellow will divide their time between their USciences (20%) and Janssen (80%) responsibilities. This fellowship is based out of the company's Horsham, PA facility. We are recruiting for two (2) fellows for 2020.
This fellowship provides opportunities to advance medical information skills and gain hands-on experience meeting the informational needs of payers, health systems, and compendia. In addition, the fellow will expand their knowledge of managed care through customer engagement, multiple projects, scientific conferences, and real-world experiential rotations in managed markets and healthcare settings.
FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Develop and cultivate core skills and competencies in analytical reasoning, critical and strategic thinking, problem solving, communication, influencing, and teamwork.
Advance professional responsibility and enhance leadership presence.
Enhance interpersonal communications with healthcare providers, strategic business partners, and consumers.
Strengthen ability to critically evaluate, interpret, synthesize, and communicate scientific information.
Instill knowledge of laws, compliance regulations, and guidance documents pertaining to functional role
Develop critical thinking and enhance clinical knowledge from industry-based projects and cross-functional teams.
Strengthen leadership and professionalism through participation in academic and industry initiatives.
Apply and communicate clinical knowledge to projects and project teams.
Enhance literature retrieval and analysis skills
Improve scientific writing by authoring medical information response documents and escalated medical information requests from payers and other population-based healthcare decision-makers
Utilize critical thinking and clinical knowledge to develop fair and balanced communications of product information in compendia communications.
Participate in the creation/maintenance of formulary dossiers
Develop training materials focused on payer, health system, and clinical decision resource topics for internal-use only.
Expand knowledge of managed care markets through customer engagement, projects, conferences.
Participate in real-world experiential rotations in market access, pharmacy benefits management, and/or data analytics, based upon site availability
Appointment to Clinical Instructor in Pharmacy Practice.
Completion of a one-year teaching certificate program with responsibilities for didactic and experiential teaching and a continuing education (CE) presentation.
Participate in professional development seminars and workshops designed to enhance professional growth and leadership.
