The USC-Gilead Sciences, Inc. Fellowship is proud to offer a 12-month training program in Medical Information designed to provide recent PharmD graduates an opportunity to learn the skills and experience to excel in Medical Information, a key function in any pharmaceutical Medical Affairs organization.
The Medical Information Activities at USC-Gilead Fellowship include:
Medical Information Content:
Write, update and review Medical Information content for healthcare providers and patients including Global Response Documents (GRDs), Local Response Documents (LRDs), and Patient Responses
Responding to Unsolicited Requests for Medical Information:
Work with the Global and US Medical Information Clinicians to develop and disseminate unbiased and scientifically balanced responses to unsolicited requests for medical information escalated from the Gilead Medical Resource Center (GMRC)
Work with Medical Information Operations on process improvement initiatives, implementation of new technology to support Medical Information, ensuring inspection readiness, and managing the GMRC
Collaborate and support Medical Affairs by providing product and drug information expertise on a wide range of initiatives including staffing the medical information booth at national scientific meetings and consulting on cross-functional activities
Rotations with External Departments:
Opportunities to participate in rotations with external departments across the Gilead organization including Regulatory Affairs (Advertising and Promotion), Field-Based Medical Sciences, Medical Affairs Research (Phase IV/Investigator Sponsored Research), etc. to gain a comprehensive experience and skillset in the pharmaceutical industry
USC Graduate Coursework:
Complete required graduate coursework at the University of Southern California with the opportunity to complete a Certificate in Regulatory Sciences
Leadership, Teaching and Career Development:
Participate in the University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy Professional Development and Leadership Retreat
The fellowship is based at Gilead’s U.S. headquarters in Foster City, California. The Fellow will be an integral part of the Global and US Medical Information teams that responds to requests for information about Gilead products from healthcare professionals and patients. The Gilead portfolio of products includes medicines across HIV/AIDS, liver diseases, hematology-oncology, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and inflammation.
Fellows in our program further their experience through the academic component at the University of Southern California School of Pharmacy, one of the nation's leading schools of pharmacy. Fellows have the opportunity to take graduate courses in the Regulatory Sciences program, lecture in the School of Pharmacy, and have access to the strong network of USC alumni.

Applicants must have obtained a PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy within 5 years of initial appointment, and a minimum doctoral program GPA of 3.0. Selected candidates will be invited to schedule an interview at the 2019 ASHP Midyear PPS by email.
Interview appointments will be scheduled on a rolling basis and must be submitted by December 2nd, 2019.
