The Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics track of the Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy is seeking applications from highly motivated Pharm.D. graduates interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in translational research. This training program integrates pharmacologic and pharmacotherapeutic knowledge gained by graduate coursework and trains the student in basic and translational science research using preclinical and animal models. Students will obtain competency in the foundational knowledge and principles of research processes as they focus on developing a project in a chosen therapeutic area (substance use disorder, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, immunological disease, and oncology). Accepted students are supported with a competitive annual stipend, plus paid tuition and health insurance.
We believe that graduate education is critical to the preparation of those who will innovate and lead in the global economy and continually transform healthcare and society. Investment in graduate education is an investment in our future—for this purpose, we train students to become innovative thinkers that focus on the development and utilization of drugs, but whose skills can be broadly applicable to a number of career paths. We maintain a vibrant intellectual environment built upon the qualities of transparency, collegiality, and respect that attracts top national and international students, maximizes learning, and fosters societal engagement.
