The cardiology residency is a one-year ASHP-accredited specialty residency that offers in-depth experience in all areas of cardiovascular medicine including general cardiology, heart failure, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac intensive care, mechanical circulatory support/heart transplantation, ambulatory/transitions of care cardiology, and electives in medicine (intensive care and acute care), emergency medicine, and solid organ transplantation. Residents also participate in providing 24-hour clinical pharmacy services through the in-house on-call program and provide longitudinal staffing.
The primary emphasis of the program is to develop clinicians with expertise in the care of cardiology patients. Residents completing the program are expected to demonstrate competency in the areas of contemporary pharmacy practice, written and oral communication, teaching and clinical research.
Applicants are required to be on track to complete an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency or have an adequate residency equivalent in practice.
