The internal medicine clinical pharmacist is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to internal medicine patients admitted to Vidant Medical Center (VMC) in Greenville, NC. This is a split-funded position with Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (CPHS) with the candidate holding a non-tenure track appointment with the College. The position includes pharmacotherapeutic instruction to CPHS students by directing the internal medicine clerkship at VMC. Additional responsibilities for CPHS may include didactic lectures and committee involvement. This position will also include precepting of VMC PGY1 residents on their Internal Medicine rotation.
Clinical responsibilities include participation in teaching rounds Monday - Friday, being an active member of the adult medicine teaching team(s) and contributing to the Internal Medicine Program and the VMC Department of Pharmacy Services. This position will be accountable for the safety and quality of pharmacy services providing proactive drug therapy recommendations, critical assessment of all medication orders, pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug optimization, prevention of adverse events and providing drug information to physicians and other health care providers. There will be also be opportunities for participation in staff education, quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives with VMC Pharmacy.
Minimum Position Requirements
Must possess a Doctorate in Pharmacy or equivalent. Must be a licensed Pharmacist in the state of NC or license eligible.
Completion of PGY1 residency.
Completion of PGY2 residency in internal medicine, family medicine, or related academic training.
May be considered >5 years experience in relevant acute care setting in substitution for a PGY2
