The Neuroscience-Pulmonary Critical Care team at UKHealthcare includes 10 clinical pharmacists focused on the care of neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, and medical ICU patients. Two positions:
1. 7-on/7-off clinical pharmacist position which works primarily afternoon/evening hours on weekdays and morning/afternoon hours on weekends. Pharmacists cover the medical ICU triage team and address pertinent patient care issues throughout the afternoon and evening for neurology, stroke, neurosurgery, and medical ICU patients. 2. Stroke pharmacist. This is primarily a dayshift clinical pharmacist position who covers the stroke team. There is a periodic weekend requirement (usually every 4th or 5th weekend).
The successful pharmacist in this position is able to provide emergency care to critically ill patients, evaluate and triage patient care issues, and engage in the drug distribution process when necessary. Opportunities for student and resident precepting are available. UKHealthcare is a Level I trauma center, TJC certified comprehensive stroke center, comprehensive epilepsy center and regional referral center for critical care patients.
