Lifespan Corporation, Rhode Island's first health system, was founded in 1994 by Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. The Director, Inpatient Pharmacy will be responsible for developing and recommending short and long-term goals for the health system's inpatient pharmacy services in alignment with Lifespan’s mission, values and key business objectives. This individual will provide leadership in identifying the resources required to achieve the operating results and advocate for them during resource allocation. This key leader will participate in the development, recommendation, implementation, and monitoring of inpatient operating budget for each affiliate.
This key leader will also provide direction in the effective utilization of resources including people, financial, and material by developing goals and objectives for inpatient areas of responsibility in collaboration with affiliate Managers. Implement business plans, in accordance with action planning to attain key operating objectives and monitor productivity reporting data and ensures corrective actions are taken to address variances from standard.
Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. Advanced study in pharmacy or health care related field, preferably a Masters or Doctor of Pharmacy degree and pharmacy residency, or comparable work experience.
Related graduate course of study in business administration, or finance is highly desirable.
Maintains current licensure as a licensed pharmacist and is eligible for licensure in the State of Rhode Island.
Minimum of ten years of experience obtained within an academic healthcare system or other large complex health system.
Must have experience in a large complex pharmacy environment, preferably an academic medical center/health system; knows the workings of a hospital pharmacy operation inside and out. Possesses an exceptional understanding of pharmacy department processes.
Demonstrated ability to work with clinical and academic leaders. Successful experience and proven track record of medication reconciliation.
Well networked across the country and involved at a national level. Encourage and mentor team in publishing and presenting nationally.
