The innovative Pharmacy Post-Graduate Year 2 Oncology Residency program at the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics is designed to provide intensive training in the care of hematology and oncology patients. The PGY2 Oncology Residency offers the resident a 12 month learning experience that prepares them to function independently as a clinical pharmacy practitioner in oncology, to serve as a fully integrated member of a multi-disciplinary team, and to optimize medications used in the provision of cancer care. The resident will practice with established interdisciplinary teams throughout University of Miami Hospital and Clinics and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Rotations offered include, but are not limited to: inpatient hematology, inpatient medical oncology, inpatient stem cell transplantation, ambulatory hematology and oncology, investigational drug services, infectious diseases, pediatric oncology, nutrition support, and others. Opportunities for training of Pharm.D. students and PGY-1 residents is available through our affiliations with Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy and Larkin Health Sciences College of Pharmacy.
This will be the inaugural year for the Pharmacy Post-Graduate Year 2 Oncology Residency program. UMHC PGY-2 residency program will be applying for accreditation in 2020.
Interested applicants must be PharmD graduates of accredited college of pharmacy, be currently enrolled in a PGY1 residency program, and be eligible for licensure in the State of Florida and submit the standard application materials through PhORCAS.
