We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician to work on a full-time basis in our Baltimore, MD facility. It’s the opportunity to gain invaluable experience working with clinical research studies and be a part of the clinical research team for emerging breakthrough treatments.
This position is responsible for providing technical support in the pharmacy under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Adheres to the Department of Pharmacy’s standard operating procedures to assist with the receipt, storage, preparation, dispensing, accountability, and destruction of the investigational product as determined by the research protocol.
Provides daily REES reports for temperature monitoring of pharmacy storage areas for review by a pharmacist.
Attends Site Initiation Visits (SIV) and participates in pharmacy simulations and protocol specific training.
Provides assistance during pharmacy monitoring visits for documentation as required.
Assists with the receipt and storage of investigational and non-investigational products.
Prepares the protocol specific pharmacy binder and handles protocol set-up for dispensing by ensuring adequate supplies, logs, labels, and Med Orders are available for the team.
Utilizes knowledge of equipment and technical skills to provide technical support for protocols.
Conducts sterile and non-sterile compounding, in compliance with protocol specifications and USP 797 and 795, respectively.
Conducts the monthly inventory for expired meds inclusive of product quarantine and submissions of purchase orders as required.
Maintains inventory of pharmacy supplies and updates the Pharmacy Inventory Management spreadsheet monthly.
Maintain 100 % accountability of all investigational products received.
Utilizes the computerized pharmacy inventory management system for the external destruction and documentation of non-investigational products.
Communicates with drug wholesalers for procurement and shipment related matters.
Performs daily cleanroom maintenance and restoration.
Complies with organizational and sponsor training requirements.
Communicates with the Pharmacy Director about operational and protocol-related matters.
Maintains confidentiality of treatment assignments for blinded studies.
Required Education And Experience
High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 2 years pharmacy technician experience performing sterile compounding.
Preferred Education And Experience
Previous experience in a clinical research environment.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Certifications Or Licenses)
Must be a registered Pharmacy Technician with current active certification in the State of Maryland.
