This job is responsible for supervising the daily operational and personnel activities of the pharmacy department within the assigned area of expertise, according to professional standards and practices, and for providing other pharmacy services as appropriate.
Description of Essential Functions of the position:
Supervise the daily operations of the pharmacy staff; participate in the selection, training, orientation and assignment of staff; assist in the development of standards of performance; evaluate employee performance and conduct disciplinary counseling when appropriate; process weekly timesheets; and initiate or make recommendations for personnel actions
Oversee the purchase of drugs and supplies and ensure that appropriate records and documentation are maintained according to established standards/procedures; implement new programs, and ensure that department and hospital policies and procedures are followed
Respond to and resolve customer service issues brought forth by other departments or units related to Pharmacy Services
Participate in performance improvement activities; represent the Pharmacy Department on hospital committees and projects; and assist in maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups
Ability to meet physical and non-physical demands as outlined in the job description is an essential function of the job
Minimum 3-5 years of related experience required
Minimum 5-7 years of related experience preferred
Four Year Bachelor's Degree or PharmD required
Graduate or advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
