The PGY2 Oncology Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health is a 12-month full-time postgraduate training experience based within the Wake Forest Baptist Health System. The program focuses on developing clinical, analytical, teaching and leadership skills as it relates to the hematology and oncology patient. The program is individualized for each resident based upon his or her goals, interests, and previous experience. Residents will have the opportunity to precept postgraduate year one residents and pharmacy students and to provide educational programs. Residents will be involved in departmental or organizational initiatives that focus on improving the safety and quality of patient care as it relates to hematology and oncology. This position will be one of four oncology residents for the next year.
Required rotations include Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy (SCT-CT), Leukemia, Medical Oncology, Pediatric Oncology, two outpatient clinic rotations as well as a longitudinal ambulatory experience. Elective rotations allow the opportunity for residents to tailor the year to their interests and include but are not limited to GU/Sarcoma Clinic, Myeloma Clinic, Lymphoma Clinic, Thoracic/Head and Neck Clinic, Breast Clinic, GI Clinic, and Antibiotic Stewardship. Additionally advanced rotations in Leukemia, SCT-CT, and pediatric oncology are available.
The resident will gain experience in academia through preceptorship of pharmacy students/residents, preceptor development, as well as didactic lectures at Campbell University, High Point University and Wake Forest University PA Program.
Residents have the opportunity to present their completed MUE and research project at national meetings.
Requirements: Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school, licensure in the state of North Carolina or eligible, and successful completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency.

Over 350 administrators, pharmac...ists, and technicians provide comprehensive pharmacy services spanning the continuum of care across multiple patient populations. WFBMC has a long history of clinical excellence and innovation in pharmacy practice. Today the department provides decentralized clinical services to more than 37 inpatient services and a variety of ambulatory clinics. Pharmacists and technicians partner to ensure safe transitions of care during patient admission and discharge and assist patients in accessing pharmaceutical care. In the ambulatory setting the Department of Pharmacy has community and specialty outpatient services as well as home infusion. Graduate Pharmacy Education consists of nine ASHP accredited residency programs, an internship program, and learning experiences for four schools of pharmacy in North Carolina.
