Critical Care Residency Special Features:Boston Medical Center's PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency was the first in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to gain ASHP accreditation in 2004. During that time, critical care pharmacy services have expanded to include dedicated specialists in medical, trauma, cardiac, and surgery critical care. Additionally, emergency department has grown to be the only ED in the Commonwealth to provide 24/7 decentralized pharmacy services. The critical care resident will participate in an on-call program and staff every 3rd weekend alternating between the ED satellite and ICU decentralized coverage. Longitudinal projects focus on quality improvement based on the Institute for Healthcare Improvement model.

Emergency Medicine Residency Special Features: The PGY-2 Emergency Medicine Pharmacy Residency Program at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is designed to provide advanced clinical training in all areas of adult and pediatric emergency medicine, including critical care, emergency preparedness, and toxicology. BMC is the busiest level 1 trauma center in the New England region, and it is one of the busiest emergency departments in the United States with over 130,000 annual visits. The resident is an integral part of the emergency department pharmacy team, which provides decentralized, clinical services to the emergency department 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
