The UTMB Health System includes a 589-bed academic medical center. The pharmacy residency program at UTMB graduated its first resident in 1961 and has been accredited by ASHP since 1967. Our PGY1 pharmacy residency has an inpatient/acute care focus. Available rotations include practice management, internal medicine, medical ICU, surgical ICU, infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, solid organ transplant, neonatal ICU, general pediatrics, pediatric infectious diseases, emergency medicine, hematology/oncology, and pharmacy informatics. Students from multiple colleges of pharmacy complete rotations at our site. Residency projects are presented as posters at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and as platform presentations at a regional residency conference. Two residency positions are available beginning July 1, 2020. Benefits include 12 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave, 14 holidays, employer-paid medical insurance, and no state income tax.
