PGY2 Specialty Residencies in Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, and Oncology UF Health Shands Hospital, Gainesville, FL UF Health Shands is a nationally recognized 1,111-bed academic medical center located in beautiful Gainesville, Florida. UF Health Shands provides diverse and comprehensive patient care services including a wide variety of critical care, hematology/oncology, pediatric, neurosurgical, cardiovascular and general medicine services. U.S. News & World Report recently ranked UF Health Shands as the top adult hospital in Florida and the UF Health Shands Childrens Hospital maintains national rankings in several medical specialties. We currently utilize the Epic® electronic medical record system; Alaris® smart pump infusion devices house wide, and bar code medication administration house wide. UF Health Shands has a long-standing residency program for over 50 years that includes nine total residents annually that just received full 8-year accreditation in 10/2017. UF Health Shands Hospital offers ASHP-accredited specialized residency programs in Critical Care, Infectious Diseases, and Oncology and is recruiting for the 2020– 2021 residency year. PGY2 Critical Care: The residency in Critical Care at UF Health Shands is designed to provide the resident specialized training in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to critically ill patients. The 12-month program is intended to prepare the resident for independent practice in the intensive care setting through direct patient care, didactic learning, and completion of longitudinal research. The resident has the opportunity to rotate through up to nine specialized adult intensive care units, the Adult Emergency/Level-I Trauma center, and a number of other elective opportunities.
