AdventHealth Orlando is on the lookout for two ambitious clinical pharmacists with interests and experience in the cardiovascular patient population! Of the two positions available, one serves our inpatient cardiothoracic surgery service and the other serves our ambulatory cardiology services. AdventHealth's clinical pharmacists serve a comprehensive set of services within our Cardiovascular Institute. These services consist of a 40-bed advanced cardiothoracic surgery (CABG/Valve/Thoracic/MCS/Transplant) ICU, 40-bed traditional cardiothoracic PCU, 40-bed PCU consisting of our Heart Transplant/VAD patients, a 40-bed cardiopulmonary PCU which hold our pulmonary HTN and Lung Transplant patients, and a state-of-the-art interventional lab consisting of cardiac catheterization, vascular, and EP services. Ambulatory pharmacy services continue to expand over the past several years which now include heart failure and antiarrhythmic services.

This position is designed for pharmacists with PGY-2 Cardiology pharmacy training (or PGY-2 in ambulatory for the AmCare position) or significant (3-year minimum) experience. Our Clinical Specialist is responsible for proficiently providing direct patient-centered care and support our clinical operations team to ensure our patients receive top level care. Dedicated to a primary patient care program, practice responsibilities for these clinicians include inpatient care rounds, medication order review, patient education, medication therapy consults, and clinical interventions. This positon will act as faculty for Doctor of Pharmacy students, core preceptors for the PGY1 Pharmacy residency program, and the PGY2 Cardiology Pharmacy residency program. This positon is also an active member and leader of multidisciplinary hospital committees and core facilitators of departmental process improvement and clinical research activities. External presentation, publication, and involvement in professional societies is strongly encouraged and supported.
Requirements include Doctor of Pharmacy degree, PGY1 Pharmacy Practice completion, and Florida pharmacist license/eligibility.
PGY-2 Cardiology Residency (or PGY-2 ambulatory for AmCare position) or at least 3-years experience in the cardiology patient population is strongly preferred. Previous hospital experience is preferred and board certification is highly recommended and supported.

The AdventHealth Orlando Pharmacy Department is automated with decentralized unit-based dispensing cabinets throughout the all patient care areas. The department has a USP 797 compliant clean room which provides sterile product services to patient care areas. The hospital is equipped with computerized physician order entry and utilizes an electronic medication administration record. The pharmacy offers a wide variety of clinical services in collaboration with healthcare teams for the cure, arrest, and prevention of disease and/or symptoms of disease. Members of the clinical pharmacy staff provide decentralized pharmaceutical care and patient education throughout AdventHealth Orlando every day to assure safe, accurate, and cost-effective medication therapy. The Department of Pediatric Pharmacy has a Clinical Program which provides of the following services:
• Patient care rounds
• Therapeutic drug monitoring with automatic pharmacy consult services for vancomycin and aminoglycosides
• Parenteral nutrition
• Review all medication profiles for potential interventions
• Dose adjustments for renal and hepatic function
• Advise the initiation, discontinuation, or alteration of therapies
• Monitor and prevent adverse drug reactions
• Provide drug information and education to physicians, nurses, patients, and other ancillary staff
• Review microbial laboratory test results and recommend altering or streamlining antibiotics
• Convert IV medications to enteral formulations when appropriate
• Asthma education and prescription discharge and warfarin patient counseling
• Team member for core committees and evidence-based guideline development
• Write/review medication-related policies and procedures and order set development
• Review medications for addition to the Formulary
• Precept pharmacy students and residents
• Participate in IRB-approved research projects
