Clinical & Operational Applications
The HITS Clinical & Operational Applications (COA) division is responsible for more than 300 clinical and business applications that patients, clinicians, and staff rely upon every day. The COA team is responsible for supporting inpatient and ambulatory care, clinical areas, and revenue cycle activities. A significant focus for the COA team is MiChart, Michigan Medicine’s electronic health record (EHR) system, including implementing and configuring MiChart workflows, enhancements, optimizations, and new modules.
Job Summary
The Pharmacist Manager of the Medication Use Informatics & Technology teams reports to the Director of Inpatient Applications within the Clinical and Operational Applications division of Health Information Technology and Services. This position oversees the Epic Willow and Beacon modules, the clinical decision support coordinator for Michigan Medicine, and supports all pharmacy technology throughout the health system.
Responsibilities
Serve as the Customer Relationship Manager for the Department of Pharmacy
Work with the Michigan Medicine business community, end users, and Epic representatives to ensure the system meets the organization's needs.
Participate in the Demand Management process and manage projects from the concept phase through operationalization.
Manage information technology contracts and adhere to the processes and procedures outlined by HITS.
Responsible for providing leadership and professional expertise through leveraging the knowledge and skills of others and collaborating with other teams as needed.
Ensure compliance with departmental policies, regulatory standards, and build guides
Ensure the electronic health record supports the safety of patients and optimizes employee efficiencies
Responsible for all human resource management of staff (hiring, promotion, salary changes, performance coaching, disciplinary actions, training and development, ensuring consistent application of organizational policies, etc.)
Train pharmacy residents, students, and others
Ensure compliance with affirmative action and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy required
Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan or eligibility to obtain licensure within 30 days of hire required
Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience
Ability to effectively manage teams in a dynamic environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities of the organization
Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Demonstrates outstanding organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proficient at presenting to a wide variety of groups (executives, managers, analysts)
Desired Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years of healthcare informatics experience/exposure
Previous experience with EPIC applications (Willow, Beacon)
Knowledge of business including understanding of contracts, finances, budget management, and data analysis
