PHARMACIST I Natividad is currently seeking to fill two permanent Pharmacist I positions - one in the Pharmacy Department and one in Information Systems. We also have per diem opportunities available in the Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacist in the Pharmacy Department performs professional pharmaceutical work in compounding and dispensing prescriptions and drugs; maintains pharmacy records and documents; and performs related work as required. The Pharmacist in Information Systems is responsible for the ongoing support, process analysis, design, implementation and upgrades of clinical information systems in coordination with clinical staff to optimize pharmacy practice, pharmacy systems and the medication-use process. The successful candidate also specializes in the process, from ordering to administration, and performs other related work as required. Example of Duties: - Dispenses drugs and pharmaceutical preparations to inpatients, outpatients, clinics and unit personnel
- Reviews completed prescription orders for proper identification and coding, including signature of authorizing physician, order appropriateness and optimal use of medications, as well as therapeutic drug monitoring
- Compounds prescriptions, drugs and pharmaceutical prescriptions
- Answers drug information questions from patients, physicians and nurses
Minimum qualifications include possession of a valid CA Pharmacist license, or another state with the ability to obtain a CA license prior to employment, and ACLS Certification. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of drugs, chemicals, poisons and pharmaceutical supplies; proper procedures involved in compounding and dispensing prescriptions and pharmaceutical preparations; and Federal and State laws related to the dispensing and use of narcotics, poisons and drugs.
