In this key role, the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist–Infectious Disease is responsible for the provision of safe, effective, appropriate and cost-efficient medication therapy to patients in the area of Infectious Disease. Under direction of the Director of Pharmacy, he/she will assist in the planning, organizing and monitoring of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Ocean Medical Center. Responsibilities include: - Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of medications, with a focus on antimicrobials, through interdisciplinary rounds, antimicrobial stewardship leadership and surveillance.
- Collaborate with physicians and other health care providers in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient’s needs and contributes effectively to the overall therapy goals.
- Provide education to healthcare team including pharmacists, nurses, physicians and students through in-services, presentations, lectures, clinical pearl memos and competencies.
- Respond to immediate medication needs/questions from pharmacy, nursing, physicians and patients in a timely and accurate manner. Develops alternative strategies for drug shortages.
- Provides practical experience and training to a pharmacy student including patient care rounds, topic discussions, seminar presentations, patient case presentations and journal clubs, etc.
Qualifications: - Must be a NJ Licensed Pharmacist with an active license
- PGY1 Pharmacy Residency required
- PGY2 Pharmacy Residency or strong aptitude in Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship preferred
- Must be proficient in WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT
