POST GRADUATE YEAR TWO (PGY2) RESIDENCY IN PEDIATRICS:
Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and The University of Tennessee offer two ASHP-accredited PGY2 residency positions emphasizing advanced pediatric pharmacotherapy and critical care. Required rotations include pediatric, neonatal, and cardiovascular critical care, emergency medicine, parenteral nutrition, general medicine and hematology/oncology (off-site). Elective rotations are available in academia, antimicrobial stewardship, and most sub-specialty areas. The resident will have opportunities to participate in didactic, small group, and experiential education.
The PGY2 resident is expected to take a leadership role in student and PGY1 resident oversight. Other residency requirements include PALS certification with code response, participation in a medication use evaluation, a research project, manuscript preparation, committee activities, as well as some weekend coverage for clinical and distributive services in the critical care areas.
