SCCA's main campus is located at Southlake Union. The SCCA has expanding rapidly throughout the greater Seattle region to better serve the needs of patients in the community.
The SCCA community site campuses consist of Northwest Hospital, Evergreen Health, and Poulsbo. Every individual at SCCA plays a unique role in supporting our mission.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager at the SCCA is expected to:
Manage the SCCA Pharmacy Services at the SCCA
Provides direct supervision of pharmacy services at the SCCA ambulatory clinic pharmacies
Substantial responsibility for formulating institutional policy at the department level and assists in the oversight of annual drug expenditures.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager will also: develop, implement, and evaluate pharmacy services; resolve day-to-day practice issues at SCCA ambulatory pharmacies; and collaborate with nursing, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and efficient medication processes.
The primary responsibilities of the Pharmacy Operations Manager are as follows:
Oversee day-to-day operations in the SCCA Pharmacy Services
Assist in planning, developing, organizing and evaluating SCCA Pharmacy Services
Assist in geographic expansion planning
Assist in maintaining appropriate computer operations and other automation systems for the pharmacy
Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws and regulations including USP 797, USP 800, The Joint Commission, and National Patient Safety Goals
Maintain security systems for the pharmacy's physical plant and computer software
Ensure that policies and procedures are updated and followed in coordination with the Director of Pharmacy
Oversee activities related to drug use, control, storage, inventory, and billing
Participate in quality assurance programs.
Maintain effective communication with other persons on the administrative staff with other SLU clinic departments
Provide management reports as required by the Director Pharmacy
Ensure proper control of controlled substances and maintain proper records and inventories
Serve as a member of committees as assigned
Assume other responsibilities in the management of the pharmacy department as delegated by the Director of Pharmacy
Assist with the annual budget preparation and maintain continuous statistical reports
Provide billing information for inquiries from patients and third-party payers
Ensure that patient charges and credits are processed on a timely basis
Assist in the recruitment and evaluation of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Assistants, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Interns as applicable to the SCCA pharmacy
Assist with personnel performance reviews and the development and retention of competent personnel in coordination with the Director of Pharmacy
Ensure pharmacy staff development, new employee orientation, and training in coordination with the Director of Pharmacy
Ensure appropriate pharmacy staffing
Ensure accuracy of timesheets and leave records, in coordination with Lead Pharmacists
Coordinate the experience of IPPE and APPE School of Pharmacy graduate students in outpatient pharmacy practice with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager
Provide lectures for the School of Pharmacy in its graduate and continuing education programs
Coordinate externship experiences for pharmacy technician students following contract agreements
Participate in collaborative research with the Schools of Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health
Ensure maintenance of records for dispensing of investigational drugs and other drug-related studies
Participate in professional pharmacy organizations
Promote an image of service and goodwill to the patients, public, and hospital staff
Perform other related tasks as required
Required:Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy
Preferred:Graduate degree in Pharmacy and an ASHP accredited administration residency. May substitute with 3-5 years of relevant experience
