DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY CHARLESTON AREA MEDICAL CENTER MEMORIAL HOSPITAL CHARLESTON, WV
Hours: The pharmacy is open 24 hours a day. The Director will typically work weekday business hours but may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed and rotates in the pharmacy administrative on call program.
Description: As a Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS) Director of Pharmacy at the CAMC Memorial Hospital, you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs.
Facility: CAMC Memorial Hospital is a 424 licensed bed tertiary care hospital that is part of the 4 hospital CAMC Health System. The hospital is home to one of the highest volume heart programs in the United States. Each year, physicians perform about 8,000 procedures in the cardiac catheterization labs and more than 1,600 open-heart bypass surgeries. Comprehensive cancer care is also housed on Memorial Hospital's campus. Our multidisciplinary team includes radiation, gynecologic and medical oncologists, as well as oncology pharmacists, psychologists dedicated to the care of cancer patients and their families, case coordinators, social workers and skilled oncology registered nurses. Our services also include a cancer patient support program for families. CAMC cancer services have been accredited since 1956 and offer the most, highest trained, nationally certified health care professionals in the region. Memorial Hospital also is the site of a comprehensive diabetes center, family medicine and internal medicine clinics, Vascular Center of Excellence and general medical-surgical inpatient services. The Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University-Charleston Division also is located on this campus.
Pharmacy: CAMC's inpatient pharmacies are open 24 hours a day (except Teays Valley) and are fully automated. The health system also includes outpatient pharmacies, specialty pharmacy, and an IV compounding preparation facility. The pharmacy department is affiliated with West Virginia University and the University of Charleston Schools of Pharmacy. The pharmacy department has a robust residency program consisting of both PGY1 and PGY2 positions. The Pharmacy is managed by Comprehensive Pharmacy Services. The Director of Pharmacy is an employee of CPS and reports to the Health System Director of Pharmacy for the system. All other employees are employees of the hospital.
Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD)
Current West Virginia pharmacist license in good standing or ability to obtain licensure
3+ years previous hospital pharmacy management experience in a 200+ bed hospital preferred
Ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns
Ability to work cooperatively with other members of CPS and hospital and pharmacy staff
