Medication Control Technician – Penn State Health Community Medical Group Hemonc Svcs Harrisburg
The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for helping licensed Providers dispense medication and other health care products to patients. Technicians obtain prior insurance authorizations and process appeals. Technicians will perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. They also perform administrative duties such as, answering phones, stocking shelves, and operating cash registers. Technicians refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a registered nurse.
Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent required
Current Pharmacy Technician certification required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to speak, read, write, and audibly understand the English language
Ability to lift 25 pounds
Ability to operate computer and computer systems
Ability to see details at close range
Ability to count, pour, weigh, measure, and sometimes compound medications
Ability to maintain working knowledge of practice and pharmacy policies and procedures
Ability to process payments
Ability to deal courteously with patients as well as convey information accurately and effectively
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
1-2 years of Pharmacy experience preferred, including creation of IV solutions.

Now part of the Penn State Health Community Medical Group, Andrews Patel is the region’s premier provider of high-quality, compassionate oncology and hematology services in a community setting for more than 30 years. The group operates two practice sites in Harrisburg and Camp Hill and also currently provides inpatient cancer services at several local hospitals. This position will work from the Harrisburg location at 4518 Union Deposit Road in Harrisburg.
